LOCATION

Montalcino is a municipality in the province of Siena in Tuscany. The area is noted for its production of Brunello wine. It is located in the region north-west of Monte Amiata, at the southern end of the Val d'Orcia, at the administrative border of the province of Grosseto. The town is a typical medieval village and thanks to its position, gives us an amazing vantage point over the splendid countryside below. In medieval times, a fortress was constructed enabling the population to intercept and defend itself from enemies. This fortress can be visited today, thanks to its restoration.
